The Interview Of A Sixth Former
A Sixth Former's View on the Whole Department
In my opinion the sixth form as a whole department is a very good thing to have. It helps us to decide what we want to do after it such as college and university. I also think that the staff who work in the sixth former center are very nice and helpful.
What an Average Sixth Former's Time Table Consists of
This is just an explanation of the subjects/lessons which every sixth former has to take the not the ones that they have chosen. They must do activities on Wednesday afternoon such as sports. Then Wednesday period 3 and Friday period 1 they have to do tutorial where they talk about general issues.
Opportunities in which sixth former's can get involved with
There are some extremely good opportunities which the sixth former's and I can get involved with, we can become a prefect in which we help out our school in many ways. We can also mentor younger students to help them with their upcoming exams. Both of these look very good on a CV.
Facilities
Our school has a designated sixth form center which gives our students a place to do private studies and to relax during break, lunchtimes or free periods. Sixth form assemblies and various presentations also occur in this area. Also in this centre, there is a special canteen purely for sixth former's.
The Sixth Form achievements
Our sixth former's achieve amazing results in their A-Level exams at the end of Key Stage 5. Last year 96% of A-Levels were passed. 55% of A-Level results were at a* a or b grades. The schools’ results were just out of the top 50 schools in 2013 and has consistently been in the top 100 since.
How their canteen differs from the main two
In the sixth form center we have their own canteen. It is substantially smaller than the other two canteens as it only caters for one department . They also serve different food to the other canteens: they serve kebabs, a variety of baguettes, cans, crisps and more.
The Best thing about the sixth form
In my opinion the best aspect of being at the sixth form has to be having our own department/space to just chill out or do private studies. As you can see in the pictures on the next page, it is separate to the rest of our school. Also, I enjoy the fact that the staff treat sixth former's as more mature and we have more responsibilities.
